I met Jordi (one of the authors of this paper) at the retreat I gave this presentation at. I've heard a lot of people talk about machine-to-machine payments, but most of them take for granted all the steps required to get us there, or don't see it as their job to make it happen. Jordi was the first person I met who was thinking hard about those intermediate steps. He was thinking about how to make those machine economies form.
