Long time Umbrel user and fairly new Start9 user. Both are great. They make a few different choices. Both run on full PCs not just Raspberry Pi btw.
Accessing an Umbrel over Tailscale is easy. Have not figured out how to access services over a VPN with Start9 since it relies on mDNS.
