Our NBA Power Rankings were a real treasure trove of information.

As mentioned on the pod, I dove into the numbers a bit to see what we could learn.

While there were plenty of disagreements about exact rankings, I did find several ranges where we each had the same set of teams.

On the pod, we discussed where we most badly missed the mark. Here are the biggest whiffs we had in each direction.

This is very informative. Thank you for taking the time to compare the tables and crunching the numbers.

As @realBitcoinDog so rudely alleged, I am a bit of a nerd.

I thought our tiers came out really well. You didn't get on the too high/low table, because none of yours were particularly far from the average.

reply

Yes, I like how you sorted the teams into tiers. Gives a good sense of how each team is doing in the league. Also it seems we have more in agreement than in disagreement.

reply

Ah yes, the Wizards. Truly a class of their own! 🧙‍♂️

reply

You might be a nerd 🤓 but I’m here for it!!🤣

reply

Rockets are 4th in the league standings and 7th in point differential. I think "way off base" is a stretch. Just because you and @gnilma don't believe in the greatness of the Rockets doesn't mean I am way off base. You could both be wrong.

I would agree I have the Knicks too low. If I were to edit it I would probably have my top ten as:
Celitcs
Thunder
Cavs
Knicks
Mavs
Rockets
Grizzlies
Magic
Bucks
Nuggets

reply

I might even put the Rockets over the Mavs, right now.

That's why I like the tiers. We have some consensus about these qualitatively similar groups of teams.

reply

Maybe number 1 on your rankings next time.

reply

Seems unlikely, but who knows?

I'd be moving the Bucks, Mavs, and Warriors down, if I were reranking right now.
