Sometimes, just the availability of certain products can cause me to shift my habit. Back in Singapore, I’m strictly a black coffee person. Our kopitiams (coffee shops) roast the beans to yield a dark and bitter drink that is reminiscent of my no-life. I do have a weakness for chai tea latte because I like spices. However, these instances are few and far between.
But when besieged by so many appetising choices in Japan, I found myself switching to latte overnight. I have tried at least the following flavours: caramel tea, apple and pear tea, Doi Tung, and obviously, matcha.
By the way, Doi Tung coffee is a single source, shade grown Arabica coffee from Thailand. I didn’t know this until I Googled for an explanation.
I’m glad to have exposed my taste buds to novel flavours.
