It seems no one wants to talk about this trade, so I'll post about it. Dennis Schroder from the Brooklyn Nets got traded yesterday to the Golden State Warriors for De'Anthony Melton, Reece Beekman, and 3 unprotected second round picks. Congrats to the Warriors on this great pickup. I've always enjoyed watching Schroder play and thought he was a major reason for Germany's gold in the 2023 FIBA Championships. I also think he's a major reason why the Nets are still kind of afloat this season, so of course the Nets need to get rid of him. After all, you can't be having winning players when you're trying to tank, amiright?

Why didn't Melton work out? People were cheering on that pickup.

They needed someone right now. Melton is hurt and expected to be out for the rest of the season, probably returning before next season starts. Warriors want to maximize the last bits of the Steph window. As it is apparent from the Rockets game, the Warriors did not have another guy that can create a quality shot other than Steph. This addition is to address the immediate need of the Warriors needing someone other than Stephen that can run an offense.

Makes sense. I've always like Schroder, too.

Did you catch the end of the Nuggets vs Kings. That was wild.

No, I was out having dinner with friends tonight. I did catch the final minutes uncut replay, really tight finish. Great shot by Murray to win the game.
The Piston and Heat game had a tight finish in OT too.

I think it was 7 lead changes in the final 85 seconds. Really exciting finish.

Great trade for both teams. I really like Schroder for the Warriors and the Nets get some decent assets in return.

Yes, a guard able to run the offense with Steph off or on the court. Draymond was saying in last night's post game interview that he's looking forward to the Warriors fitting to Schroder's play style and not Schroder fitting into their current system. I like that he already knows Schroder is a ball dominant player that doesn't really fit into the Warrior's current system. Schroder is fast, likes to drive, so is great at using pick and rolls to collapse the defense for spray out 3 pointers. But, the Warriors haven't been much of a pick and roll team under Kerr, at least they don't rely heavily on it. Yet, maybe because of that, Schroder brings something new to the table and could spice up their offense (or break it). We will know soon enough as the season progresses.
3m40s Is the Schroder related question and Draymond's answer.
