I can't get sMiles tracking a freaking single step!

I created an account on sMiles on 2022 and have tried a few times since then using different mobile phones and I never got the app to track a single step. I have no clue on how to get sMiles to start tracking my steps, and I'm probably missing something here, like a somehow hidden START button or something. Any idea on what I'm missing here, please?
I've used a few different apps, like Sport Tracker, Wikiloc, OsmAnd (Open Street Map), etc., and all of them have worked very well and consistently in all those different phones.

Are you using an Iphone? As far as I know you have to give permission to share health data with sMiles. I am not sure it actually tracks steps but instead just pulls the data from your apple health app. I don't know about android but assuming something similar.
Have you tried WorkIt?

I don't use those phones for the rich, but the alternative for the poor, Android, replacing the stock roms with alternative ones free of as much Gøøgł€ rubbish as I possibly can. Alas, I'm using a stock rom right now, since I've just got a new phone and I'm trying out before I de-Gøøgł€ it.
I don't know what WorkIt is.

Have you allowed tracking? Go into the setting click Smiles and put tracking to always that way it should still keep track of your steps even when the app isn’t open it’s not much but it gives you like 2-4 sats every so often

No, I haven't. I have no idea where to find any "settings" to click into. :-(
2-4 sats every now and then is more than 0, which is cool. Anyway, I'll be happy just with getting the app track any steps at all (I've walked hundreds if not thousands of Km and the damn thing is always at 0 steps.

For me there is a settings icon should be one for android and I have to go to apps and find Smiles should be similar on android hope this helps
