I'm working with autistic teens and adults, and I still have the knee jerk temptation of orange pilling them. They do not have the ability to run a node. The central banking cartels and downstream effects of a control economy are so outside of their purview, that bringing it up would be ridiculous.

But.

I am here to help them gain independence. Sovereignty is a ladder and regardless of where someone is on the ladder, it would be my job to guide them into more of it. Not everyone can run a node, some people have intellectual disabilities, physical limitations and higher priorities.

Funnily enough I think it would be easier than one might assume to run a node, I have a client who could do it and have a semblance of what it means. The client has the ability to work, and when he sees trump on the screen, he knows he's the president, and he knows politicians are liars.

I have a few other clients that don't have the ability to work or take care of themselves at all. Running a node is plugging something into the wall, making sure the light is on, and attaching your wallet to it. I aint talkin about a lightning node btw I'm talking about core.

It boggles my mind on what people find so insurmountable about running bitcoin core. I think it might just be people projecting their own bias or inserting their own objections the thing. Start9 and Umbrel can be set up by a loved one, an assistant or nurse can make sure the thing continues being on and that the internet bill is paid. Is it harder managing the persons Bank of America account or is it harder attaching a wallet to your node and leaving the thing on?

Would be cool if I took one of these guys to a bitcoin meetup with a node in a phone and had them teach fools how to conduct a peer to peer transaction. Could even get real fancy, and have them send a freak some e-cash. When I was at bitcoin Miami an OG pulled me to the side and explained what a peer to peer transaction was using hand signals......

So here we are at another conclusion, Sovereignty is a ladder that every last human being on the planet should attempt to climb and regardless of the rung you find yourself in, don't let others pontificate about how you "can't" because its probably just them being retarded.

In part, it's also very early. I believe everyone will eventually run their own bank, much like they run their own internet modems, but it needs to be just as easy. It needs to be plug-it-in, if there's an issue unplug and plug back in, and their other computing devices need to seamlessly interact with it.

My internet router is owned by ISP. It is very hard to access the internet without a custodial in most countries.

I can buy my own gear, but where do I connect it? I need a contract with some gatekeeper, even to buy a sim card. I want to say 99% of people are fine with that. The same will happen with UTXO ownership. Most don't care.

I agree its just early. The barrier to running a full node, let alone high reliability LN infra and payment gateways is too high to the average person. However, abstractions and curated journeys is a growing theme. There are commercial services today, and apps that approximate what this will be like in the future.

Zeus app is a great example, they could run this app on their phone and take part in the LN today.

I was offered a job helping students with learning difficulties. I thought about the interview afterwards in which they explained that my role would not really be much of an educational capacity, yet the emphasis was to do so in the most basic sense, like encouraging them to notice things and learn through discovery.

I imagine the task would be a similar problem. Technology viewed from the outside is either workable, or seemingly insurmountable for some of us, but techniology is nothing more than discovery and the application of controlling the technology.

I imagine with certain candidates if there was an understanding of how basic technology can enable independance and the value that brings, the spark can be ignited to follow through to operate and get familiar with the capabilities of a device.

If it was my task to do something like this, I suppose I might try a workshop demonstrating some simple assembly of networked devices. If that can be established and enjoyed, build up from there with media or value exchange. Education is so stale, I almost feel this would be the way to go in most scenarios.

Running a node is plugging something into the wall, making sure the light is on, and attaching your wallet to it.

Is running a core as simple as this? As a father with limited time, I haven’t entertained the thought of running a core. But if it is as straightforward as this, I can give it a shot

So many cases of people being held back by their own self doubt and the doubt pushed on them by peers seeking to make excuses for themselves.

I learned a long time ago that some people are not worthy of sharing my passions and dreams with. They will tear others down if they see them doing things they can't or won't do. It's sad but true.
