just watching this one about the cringe goons behind the Bitfinex hack
quite good, as are most netflix docs. I don't usually root for the feds but man, the woman is so fucking cringe that it defies belief, almost like a parody.
i haven't finished it yet, but one thing i don't get is how the feds said some of the stuff from the darkweb market lead back to an address.
surely if you have committed the biggest heist ever and are laundering on the darkweb, you wouldn't link anything back to yourself?

I don't trust Netflix documentaries. Personally, I think they are all totally harmful with hidden signals, adoption and a lot of hidden socialist Progressivism.
Although I can't deny that they lack content, I have seen interesting things in some of these documentaries, however, I can't stop feeling that there is "someone" or "something" behind that directs that information to us with hidden signals and trying to shape the way of thinking about some particular issues.

can you give an example of something you would define as a hidden signal?

I prefer this one.

This movie is actually so insane.
I went down the rabbit hole when I watched this movie and after I saw the pile of cash, I was dumbfounded at how easy that heist was.
Have you seen American Animals? It was the largest art heist in US history and it was by complete amateurs who stole some John J. Autobahn books from a library on the east coast or something. Absolutely bonkers what they did.

That documentary is quite misleading, trying to blame some bullshit so called "hackers". They are PATSIES. IT WAS AN INSIDE JOB not "the biggest heist"... !
I personally don’t believe the “official” story that the “hacker couple” are the real “hackers” of Bitfinex. Is all obviously another scam trying to cover up the previous scam, with “Bitfinex was hacked”, so people will not look anymore into the Tether scam.

One thing I will say is that they were extremely lucky with their LEO token play and timing, they were able to make all of their creditors whole. I remember when the hack was announced - they were very worried it would destroy Bitcoin. (nb: It didn't).
Never again will a company be able to bail themselves out by printing up nonsense tokens. Was too early for gox, and too late for ftx. Their gambit appears to have succeeded (for now).

This one is about Bitconnect, not Bitfinex!?

no, is bitfinex

yep, cool video. so they exploit the same "money glitch" as Saylor - back printed (borrowed) USD with BTC. Or "flywheel" as Mashinsky called it.

thanks, i'll give that a watch too

FEDs took all data from AlphaBay. Probably matched up some weird decor purchases to youtube videos.
Fascinating story. My bet is that Russian spy network was involved, with Ilya's farther on Putin's payroll. That's where the missing billion went.
