I saw a subsequent interview with Saylor where the interviewer pressed him about that. Saylor sort of hand-waved and said that he and Pippen had dinner at Saylors house after that event and had a long talk about Bitcoin. He said Pippen is very knowledgeable about tech / bitcoin in general.
He sort of hinted that Pippen wasn't speaking literally but in some sort of coded metaphor or something.....but yes, is a rather odd statement to say the least.

Total sidenote about dinner with Saylor...short version, a coworker of mine, dated someone who was somehow connected with Saylor from way back when he was nobody, she (and by connection he) got invited to a Saylor family wedding of some sort, he flew a Gulfstream to pick 'em up, they had dinner at one of his places, my coworker buddy said it was absolutely intriguing, especially his library which was huge. -for whatever that's worth
