A bit late again this week as we are already into Round 5 games but better late than never. Here is a recap of how the Bitcoin baseball team did in their Round 4 series against the Melbourne Aces.
Heading into the series the Heat were 7-5, coming off their first series win of the season. However, their momentum from last series was short lived as they dropped all four games to the Aces.
Here is how it played out:
Game 1- The Aces hot weekend started with a bang as they pummeled the Heat 10-2. SP Tucker Smith had been great so far this year but had a rough one, giving up 8 runs over 5 innings. The bats couldn't do much either with the lone bright spot being a 3 hit, 2 rbi game from RF Ulrich Bojarski.
Game 2- The Heat bats mounted a better outing but again the pitching let them down and they lost 11-8. Nothing to write home about on the pitching side at all. However, notable games from RF Ulrich Bojarski who had two hits and a homer and CF Jhon Diaz who had 2 hits and a homer.
Game 3- The next game brought more of the same. Another close high scoring game but the Heat fell by a score of 10-8. Starting pitching is proving to be the Heat's achilles heel but the offense did produce 8 runs with SS Carlos Colmenarez being a standout with 2 hits and 2 rbis.
Game 4- In the final game of the series the Heat could not avoid the sweep and fell 6-2 to the Aces. The pitching kept them in the game but the Aces hit 2 home runs late to seal the win and the sweep. 3B Angel Mateo was a bright spot with two hits including a home run.
Certainly not the series the Heat were hoping for. After round 4 they are 7-9 and drop to 5th place in the ABL standings. Up next, a series matchup against Canberra Cavalry.
Go Heat!
