Cocktail of the day: American Trilogy 2006

This is a Milk & Honey original, I do miss that bar! It's a perfect drink for the season!

Ingredients: 1 oz Calvados 1 oz Rittenhouse Rye Whiskey 1/4 oz demerara syrup 2 dashes Orange bitters 3-4 drops saline solution

Instructions: Shake with one large and two smaller ice cubes and strain into a lowball class with a fine mash strainer over a big cube. Garnish with apple wood smoke.

Is there any substitute for bitters it is hard to find it in my country, even If I do it is more expensive than the whole bottle of jack

Yes, there is a replacement, but it's not the best.

You can shake all the ingredients with a slice of orange peel and throw it away. It takes the oil out of the peel to get the orange flavor, and the peel gives it a slight bitterness.

Finally, express some orange zest with another slice of peel over the finished cocktail.

This would work as a substitute, but is not the same. This is what I did when I ran out of orange bitters during a shift.

Thanks. I'm not a bartender, I'm a waitress but it helps bcs sometimes you need to do everything and old fashioned is one of the most requested cocktails
