Luke 11:13 "Therefore if you, being evil, know how to give good things to your children, how much more surely will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who wait for him."
Jesus had a special relationship with the Holy Spirit, which is very important for our personal lives. This article does not exist. Discusses about and its practical application.
Old Testament Prophecy: Many Old Testament prophecies say that the Messiah will be mighty in the power of the Holy Spirit (Isaiah 11:2: 61:1-3). When Jesus read this passage in the synagogue of Nazareth, he said, "Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing" (Luke 4:21).
Birth of Jesus: Both Matthew and Luke clearly and accurately say that Jesus came into this world as a result of a miracle of God, that is, he was born of a virgin named Mary by the Holy Spirit (Matthew 1:18, 23: Luke 1:27). As a result of this miraculous conception, Jesus became holy (Luke 1:35), that is, free from all corruption. This qualified Him to take our sins upon Himself and make atonement (Matthew 1:23). We would not have experienced salvation except for a pure and sinless Redeemer.
Baptism of Jesus: On the day of Pentecost and at other times during the church age, Jesus who baptized his disciples with the Holy Spirit (Luke 3:16 Acts 1:4-5: 2:33, 38-39), had to be anointed with the Holy Spirit (Matthew 3: 16-17: Luke 3:21-22). If the Holy Spirit descended on John the Baptist in the river in the form of a dove, and anointed him, that he might receive the necessary power for ministry and salvation. When the Lord went into the wilderness after the resurrection, He was filled with the Holy Spirit (Luke 4:1). Those who have been miraculously regenerated by the Holy Spirit, like the Lord, need to experience the baptism of the Holy Spirit, so that they may gain strength in their lives and strength for ministry (Acts 1:8 note)
Temptation of Jesus by Satan: Immediately after Jesus' baptism, he was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, where Satan tempted him for forty days (Luke 4:1-2). Filled with the Holy Spirit, he was able to face Satan (4:1) and resist temptation. May it be God's will that we should never resist the evil spirit without the power of the Holy Spirit. We must live in His fullness and walk under His leadership in order to overcome Satan. We cannot be His "natural" children unless we are filled with the Spirit and live in His power.
Jesus' Manifest Work: Jesus uses this scripture to fulfill Isaiah's prophecy about the Holy Spirit coming upon him and outlines his preaching, healing and deliverance work (Isaiah 61:1-2: Luke 4:16-19). (1) The Holy Spirit anointed Jesus to accomplish His purpose. Jesus was God (John 1:1) but He was also man (1 Tim. 2:5). As a man he had to rely on the help and power of the Holy Spirit to fulfill his duties before God (Matthew 12:28: Luke 4:1, 14; Romans 8:11; Hebrews 9:14). (2) Only as anointed in the Spirit could Jesus live, serve, and preach the gospel (Acts 10:38). In this regard he was an excellent example for Christians. Every believer must fully receive the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8: note 2:4).
Jesus' Promise of the Holy Spirit: John the Baptist prophesied that Jesus would baptize his followers with the Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:11; Mark 1:8; Luke 3:16; John 1:33). It was a prophecy that Jesus upheld (Acts 1:5; 11:16). Jesus promised that he would give the Holy Spirit to as many as would ask (see note on Luke 11:13). These verses refer to the fullness of the Holy Spirit. Christ promised the heavenly Father to give it to all His children, a promise fulfilled on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:4 note). This promise is still in force for all who become His disciples and seek the increase of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:5:2:39 note).
Resurrection of Jesus: Through the power of the Holy Spirit, Jesus rose from the grave and proved to be the true Messiah and Son of God. In Romans 1:3-4 we see that through the Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ was automatically declared to be the Son of God, and in Romans 8:11 we are told that it was the Holy Spirit who raised Jesus from the grave. Just as Jesus depended on the Holy Spirit for His resurrection, believers will also depend on the Holy Spirit for their spiritual life and their physical resurrection in the future. Jesus' Ascension: After Jesus' resurrection, he ascended to heaven and sat at the right hand of his Father, and since then he has been ruling the kingdom as co-king with the Father (He ascended to the right hand of his Father. Haggai 4:8-10). Raised to this glorified mace, he poured out the Holy Spirit from his Father on the 4001 apostolic day upon his people (Acts 2:33: John 16:5-14), and poured out the air and proclaimed his lordship as the adversary of Rohanvami. On the day of Panchashatami, Paritra speaks of the presence of God, His power and His authority.
Presence of Jesus: The Holy Spirit is currently working on behalf of Christ. He is revealing the things of Christ to His disciples or believers (John 16:14-15). It is through the Holy Spirit that we receive the graces of salvation or redemption (Romans 8:14-16: Galatians 4:6). The most important thing is the presence of Jesus to us (John 14:18). The Holy Spirit makes us aware of Jesus' personal presence. It is through faith that we receive His love, blessings, help, forgiveness and healing. The Holy Spirit draws our hearts to the Lord in love, prayer, devotion and adoration (John 4:23-24: note 15:14).
Jesus' return for His people: Jesus promised that He will return and receive believers to Himself, so that we can always be with Him (see John 14:3; 1 Thess. 4:13-18). This return of Christ is called the great hope of believers (Titus 2:13). We pray and long for this event (2 Tim 4:8). Scripture says that the Holy Spirit directs us to cry out to God for the coming of the Lord. It is the Holy Spirit who testifies that our salvation will remain incomplete until Christ comes (Romans 8:23). At the end of the Bible are the inspired words of the Holy Spirit, "The Lord Jesus is come" (Revelation 22:20).
