In these times of tick-tock and instant dopamine access in our pockets everywhere we go, we seem to have lost appreciation for longer form art. We want that satisfying drop now! I often observe people unable to even listen to entire song before checking what's next.
I long for the days when we would sit down and listen to an entire album front to back, intently with a pair of headphones with no other distractions, maybe while flipping through a album art.
And I love long epic tunes. My pick for this list is AWOLNATION's song, Knight's of Shame. It's nearly 15 minutes long and some how manages to keep me super engaged for the whole ride.
What is your favorite epic long song and why? The longer the better for this list.
Thank you for sharing. 💚
Yes, tik tok is the crack of drugs. I'm glad I don't suffer from that, I like long content. I'll refrain from justifying, the music speaks for itself.
Shine On You Crazy Diamond
view on www.youtube.comGood one! I almost picked this.
I picked first! 🤠You could have chosen this one, you must know it!
Rush - 2112
view on www.youtube.comAlso good, but you chose well
nice picks
This is on my list also. I absolutely love this pink Floyd album. It really helped me through some tough times. And I feel the same..I still love listening to full albums and longer form content.
This is the longest guns song. Good choice! Is it about an overdose coma? I haven't been able to decipher it yet.
Axl said he wrote the song about when he overdosed, which he says was brought on by stress. "I just grabbed this bottle of pills in an argument and gulped them down," he said. "I ended up in a hospital, but I liked that I wasn't in the fight anymore. My first real thoughts were, 'you haven't toured enough, the record's going to be forgotten, you have work to do, get out of this,' and I woke myself out of it. But in describing that, people could take it wrong and think it means go put yourself into a coma."
Much as I love a lot of the other artists and songs named here, my fave was an easy choice:
view on www.youtube.comSome people couldn't understand why do I like Metallica songs if they may play 1-2 minutes intro without lyrics
So, I vote for Master of Puppets
Master of Puppets is a classic. A song of theirs that I find is extremely underrated is The Day That Never Comes, and it's just about the same length as MoP.
Yeah, you're right. Its intro is masterpiece.
I remember 2008 when I got a newspaper in the local grocery store and read there about upcoming Death Magnetic album
Wild! I'm listening to my favorite epically-long song right now! ...On cassette! It takes both sides.
This video is horrible sound quality, but it's the only one I could find with the whole song. I think someone recorded this with their phone held up to their stereo speakers playing the vinyl.
view on www.youtube.comReally you are listening to a tape? That's awesome.
Yessir!
They got longer tracks I like, but can't go wrong with dis one
view on www.youtube.comnow I realized last part of video is empty, so here's another one

I forgot about this song. Classic.
November Rain
Guns and roses are so good even though I don't consider them my type of music really..
Have to put this one up by my favorite band from teenage years.
Deathbed by Relient K, 11 minutes

Probably this one:
view on www.youtube.comI want to add another as an honorable mention for me. Pretty much this whole album is long songs that are all great but this might be my favorite TOOL song ever.
view on www.youtube.comI am a little surprised there is no TOOL on this list.
