According to Jon Heyman, a baseball columnist for the New York Post, Soto's friends and family ran into issues with a single security guard at the beginning of the season and a few months later, which likely played a factor in his decision to go to the Yankees. In two separate instances, the same security guard removed/booted people from Soto's guest list. The first instance honestly was likely the worst as the security guard "kicked out one of his parents" we do not have any details besides that but ya know beginning of the season kicking out a parent... super bad move.
The second instance happened with the same guard mind you and he kicked out Soto's driver and chief. They had to wait for him in the ran outside the stadium. I can only imagine that this guard had to have been fired at this point because I mean crap this is the best player on the team (sorry Judge) and you kicked out his parents first and then his driver and chief I mean freaking YIKES!
These instances were well-known enough it seems that Mets Owner Steve Cohen brought his wife and others involved with logistics planning to show Soto how the Mets would be different. Where the Yankees could have made up for this by including a suite in Soto's contract they refused to because neither Jeter nor Judge got one, they had to pay for it, while the Mets gave him a suite for every home game. For the entire 15-year contract that will only cost the Mets $500k so I mean a huge win there as well.
We have seen players in the past spur teams due to how their families were treated. Ken Griffey Jr. made it clear he would never play for the Yankees because of how they treated him as a kid, and Adam LaRoche retired over how the White Sox treated his 14-year-old son.
