They most likely still need to get this cash into a bank account at the end of the day. But they saved on transaction fees, yes

Of course, some will prefer to pay in bitcoin, but when that's not accepted by the merchant, paying in cash is the next best method.

Plus, when we use cash less often, that encourages the central banks that they can get away with pushing out their CBDC sooner rather than later.
