Hip-hop was invented by a group of time travellers from the future. Their time machine was malfunctioning and making percussive sounds, and they started rapping to the beat to pass the time. After landing and spreading their new kind of music at various points in the timeline, they eventually went back to the future to enjoy the hundreds of years of hiphop music that had now been recorded.
