It was a busy morning in our household.
My wife was getting ready for work and getting my daughter started on her online lessons. I was sitting at the kitchen table, enjoying a coffee, reviewing a couple emails from my contract job regarding a project next week and of course reading the morning (stacker) news.
My son entered the kitchen to get himself some breakfast. After a couple minutes I hear “Ah Dad”.
I look up from my laptop screen. “Yes”
“We need a few things” my son says.
“What do you mean” I reply.
“Next time we go to the store we need a few things. Milk, yogurt, Rice Krispies, orange juice”
I was somewhat confused at his use of “we” as I don’t recall my son going grocery shopping with myself or my wife even once since he has been old enough to stay home alone, but decided not to quibble over it.
I said “why don’t you make a list and give it to mom. I think she is going to do a Walmart order tomorrow.”
Later when I was driving my wife to work she glances at her phone and starts laughing. I said “what is it” and she replied “I just got a text message from my US phone. All it says is “milk, yogurt, Rice Krispies, Orange Juice.”
Haha he did what I asked. Gotta give him credit for that!
If he does this a few more times, he can be appointed as the Grocery Guru, leaving one task less on your plate haha
reply
Good idea. Grocery inventory should be his function.

I will take it. Better than leaving the milk empty for when I go to get my coffee tomorrow morning. Haha

Got it!
reply
No I don’t drink black coffee. I don’t mind it but I prefer with just a bit of milk. No sugar.

Haha classic kid move! Gotta love how he nailed the task in his own way

We had a good laugh and I said to my wife “at least he is letting us know now. He used to just let things run out and not say anything”
reply
True! Progress is progress at least now he's proactive. Who knows, maybe next step he'll start adding them to the cart himself
