Stacker Sports completes its first trip around the Sun
That's right stackers it has been exactly one year since territories launched.
What a fun first year of posts, comments, content, contests and a bit of trash talk. I am looking forward to the next year and beyond. I am grateful to be part of such a great community of stackers.
On the podcast a few episodes ago I compared the territory to a dive bar where our regulars keep us going and some big, notable events draw in a broader audience. I wanted to take a moment to shout out some of our "regulars" (21 to be exact) who are routinely participating in the territory whether through posts, comments or joining pools/contests. I know I am tagging a lot of people here but bear with me because I want to say a well deserved thanks.
First off I want to thank and shout out the stackers who have taken it upon themselves to use the territory as a way to run their own contests/pools/leagues:
@Undisciplined (Basketball pools, hosting the podcast, multiple regular series posts) @Coinsreporter (Cricket Pools and posts) @Carresan (UEFA pools and posts) @Public_N_M_E (NFL Fantasy football league and posts) @BlokchainB (Team analysis/betting posts/Finding new and fun ways to give away his sats)
And also a huge thanks to the rest of our "regulars" that post, comment, participate in contests and make the territory what it has become (which is apparently profitable- at least for one month)
Thanks again everyone. Looking forward to another great year.
Sats for all, GR
Thank you so much for your unconditional love to sports. When I started the pool for world cup, I wasn't too sure about its success but it was your love and support that made it possible.
Now running cricket pool, I feel like I own a plot (sub) in ~stacker_sports.
Thank you so so much @grayruby and all other Stackers who have made it all possible. Let's make it at least 210 on this list next year.
reply
Your doing a great job.
reply
I can't imagine it without you so, the credit goes to you not to me. I'm just happy that I can talk about the sport I love and somehow it's getting love from all here.
reply
Hey @grayruby. I want to apologize for any times that I may have said anything stupid and annoying In here. I am not into sports so much but I am super grateful that you are making this happen here. I was being exactly what I don't want to be, a troll. I feel stupid for doing it. I want stacker to be for everyone with all types of interests. Thank you for your work here. Keep it up. πŸ’š
reply
Nah, no apology necessary. Not everyone is a sports fan. You are doing an awesome job with your territory. I love it am glad the Parent's corner series found a home there.
reply
Well I felt like it was necessary. I just remembered some things that happened and it felt weird so I wanted to say something.

Thank you for being the pioneer before territories even existed.
reply
Honestly, I was just bored and thought a meta takeover would be funny. Sometimes you stumble upon something by dumb luck.
reply
Thank you for giving me a place to
  1. Rant about my bad teams (Sabres 😩)
  2. Gloat about my good teams (Bills, Knicks 😁)
  3. Share my degen bets
  4. Random thoughts about sports
  5. Zap sats to sports related content
  6. Play in pools where I enrich other stackers because of my horrible picks
  7. Breaking away from bitcoin talk and growing my passion for sports again
  8. Getting zaps for my sports content
  9. Brining sports to bitcoin
  10. Help one of the nicest stackers around
Cheers and on to another great year!
reply
No, thank you sir and I forgive you for your Bills whooping the 49ers ass. I will be rooting along side you as they chase that Super Bowl. But 2025 belongs to the Niners.
reply
One can only dream of the bills winning it all
reply
I'd argue the best/most enjoyable territory on SN. Thanks for being the ringleader of this circus @grayruby, and congrats on year 1.
reply
I wouldn't contest that statement at all. Id even endorse it.... Almost πŸ˜‰
reply
I wanted to do another pseudo crossover post at some point. Best sports references in songs.
reply
congrats on a profitable territory!
Thanks for managing sports
reply
Thanks for taking part in the territory and joining the contests. Should have had you on the list of folks to thank. I have missed a few people.
reply
No problem
I've been less active lately
reply
Thank you so much sir for the mention and the sats. TBH I won't be here in I didn't find sports love on SN. The rest of the things are very tough to understand.
A big shout for you to running and managing so brilliantly.
reply
From January I'll start posting a weekly schedule for major sports with preview for interesting games.
I'll do this with expectation to garner some outside engagement for ~Stacker_sports.

Thank you for creating this space where we can all interact and learn! I've been learning up on cricket something I never would have done otherwise!
Heck of a community you have built here!
reply
Not sure I can take credit for building it. I think there was demand for folks to talk about things other than Bitcoin/tech/economics on SN and sports is a popular medium for content and discussion. I think it happened naturally but I will take some credit for nurturing it. I haven't put a ton of thought into how to grow the territory because I didn't want it to feel like a job, but I have made a concerted effort to engage with and support everyone who wants to participate in the territory even if I don't know much about their preferred sports and I certainly learned early on (well before territories existed) that people really liked predicting outcomes and trying to win sats. The idea to host a pool came from @siggy47. Prior to that I only did pick 'ems.

You provided a really good job during all the months, Thanks You. I did not expect it. Also thanks to the other participants as it would not have be possible :)
reply
Thank you for running the territory and getting me into sports gambling!
reply
I only want thanks for getting you into sports gambling if you are winning. If not, it was all @Undisciplined's doing.
reply
I started Degenerate Corner, so that's pretty fair.
reply
After my initial huge success, I am mostly breaking even. I am up about $600 give or take.
reply
That's pretty awesome considering I am slogging along at $124. But I am aiming for singles not homers. I want to make sure there is some profit to sweep into Bitcoin once the NFL season is over.
reply
Aww! Thank you for running such a great territory!
reply
You're welcome. Hopefully the Mets get Soto so you and Siggy can look forward to something come spring time and forget about this awful Jets season.
reply
You're welcome bro. Congratulations on your first anniversary. You've done amazing things with this territory and thank you for providing the space we all love to talk sports.
Salute to the godfather of territories πŸ₯ƒπŸ«‘ thank you GR.
And also thank you for the generous deposit into my wallet, I appreciate you bud. πŸ‘Š
reply
You're welcome sir. Fantasy Football League 2025 is going to be epic.
reply
I'm very excited for it. There's been a fair bit of interest knocking about the territory so I hope when we put the call out for it that we'll get plenty of signups.
reply
Look at this! I like this! Thanks @grayruby!
reply
You're welcome. I felt like today was a good day to give sats away. We are celebrating 1 year in the territory and the 1sat=1sat party!
reply
IS 1 SAT FINALLY EQUAL TO 1 SAT??
reply
Saylor is having a 100k party on his yacht. I am having a 1 sat=1sat party on my deck that is currently covered in 2ft of snow. But I promise I will shovel before the guests arrive.
reply
We are all attendees of your party today

Congratulations ~Stacker_Sports and @grayruby! Many more years to come!

Thank you for providing a place for me to talk basketball and sometimes win a few sats in contests (I wanted to say "and pools" but realized I've never won any pool). Looking forward to another great year!

Thank you very much for the mention and the sats, @grayruby! I have found a place where I enjoy connecting with other people and discuss about sports. SN is about learning bitcoin but also about having fun. This territory brings fun. I could not think being involved in a cricket or NFL pool a year ago, or following closely the NBA results. Keep up the good job you all do, I think it’s great.
reply
Well deserved mention and sats. I appreciate all the effort you put into the pool and posts and growing the interest in European football in the territory.
reply
Just think where we'll be in another year.
reply
Still stackin sats and talking trash but hopefully with more friends.
reply
Happy to be a β€œregular” who helped make the territory profitable finally
You recruited me! Proof of Work right there.
reply
I am gonna need it. The worse the 49ers get, the worse my team plays.
reply
@Undisciplined said that the best time for the two of us to record is probably Tuesday, 12/10 from 9am PST until about 1pm PST. is that right? I dm'd u on nostr but you never replied.
reply
Thanks for the sats GR. Good luck in fantasy football playoffs
reply
Congratulations! Thanks for providing a place to chat! I'm normally more of a lurker than a poster, so it's nice to have the cricket pool here that gives me an excuse to post and comment. It's nice to have the other sports discussions too, even if I don't necessarily enjoy the sport!
reply
Congrats! Although I'm only marginally interested in sportsball myself, it's great to see an active territory gaining traction.
