I don't know if that is a good thing or not, but I'm fiat free from...20 minutes ago. I spent the left fiat digital inexistent currency to pay for stuff that was due. And now only sats are left.
Is that a good thing? I sometimes wish sats were easier to get along with...a bitcoin standard life today is hard, because consumer-level merchants usually don't accept sats.

It is a good thing what you did (if you have enough ressouces, have a job that pays in BTC, pays bills in sats... )
All the best in your journey

what a pretty screenshot!

I think you did great! Keen to know how you managed it, especially the drawing of your income in sats
reply
Uh the reality is that I stacked sats thrpugh the years and sats slowly became a huge part of my net worth. I was spending only fiat, so things turned out in this way

Congratulations. That is an accomplishment to be proud of. Not many of us can say that.
reply
I consider it more a Bitcoin's accomplishment than one of mine. I just stacked sats throughout the years and c'est tout.

Congrats!
Me too! Some months, it gets pretty damn hard since ALL of my monthly bills are in usd and that exchange rate is volatile. But then I remember all of the war and what-nots that Iā€™m not funding with my savings and it always confirms that it was the right decision.

These days confirm we were right

A new feature is supposedly to roll out on the Strike app this week. It will allow users to automatically pay their bills using Bitcoin.
reply
Ye, saw it. But Strike is not paying bills in sats...it means paying stuff in fiat. And with KYC.

Welcome to the club, now focus on adding places to btcmap.org, using bitrefill and mining fiat to buy more sats or even better start accepting sats if you can for your work.
reply
yep, thanks for the sugestions, although I've been using Bitrefill since few months and btcmap.org for years. I have to say though that using bitrefill is dangerous: I'm worried that eventually it will be shutdown or KYC required. I don't want to build my life on top of regulatory uncertainty.
reply
It's not an easy path, hard choices, good life, easy choices hard life. A good community could help.
reply
Hard choices is not the right term...going full sats is am easy choice, rational. The only issue is that fiat bridges are still needed to live a normal live...that's the damn tricky issue

Welcome to the Bitcoin standard... šŸ’ŖšŸ¤
I recently came to the conclusion that we don't need everyone to accept Bitcoin, we just need to manage it ourselves and then pay them with their papers šŸ’µ if that's what they want. In the end, the important thing is that we escape the Fiat trap, those who want to stay in it, fine by them.
reply
And are you going to be able to stay that way?
reply
Good question...I don't know. Gift cards can be helpful...at least as long as they work.
reply
Well I applaud your conviction. Actually living with Bitcoin is huge.
reply
Let me come back to you into a few months and let's see then if the choice has been a good one. Overall bitcoin helps you to go full bitcon if you understand that "rebalancing the portfolio" is not wise. If you stack the sats and keep them, eventually you'll run into the bitcoin standard...that's a consequence of appreciation. So this happened to me over time without even focusing on it.
BUT, but...I don't think it will be easy.
As the piece of Pasternak goes
life is not a walk across a field
And I don't expect the bitcoin standard as a walk across a field either.

Good for you. I also wish it were easier to spend everywhere. Gift cards are not ideal IMO
reply
You're perfectly right, I hope things will change
