Actually before allocating this point system where 'Jumbos' are highly advantageous, I mulled over it for quite some time. Instead of 10, I could have allocated 8 points but then I thought it would be apt to have a big difference between Bingo and Jumbo because ultimately everyone is gonna get Jumbos. It'd give all a fair chance even if behind by many points in the end. I hope this point system proves to be quite entertaining.
Just suppose, we only had +1 extra run for 'all 6 predictions going correct'. How boring that would have been?
Personally I would rather see a different bonus prediction than the coin toss if getting everything correct is going to give so many extra points. The five other predictions seem like they require at least some degree of skill and consideration but the toss is just a 50/50 guess.

We're having this for two reasons.
  • A coin toss often plays a huge part in the outcome of the match.
  • Because it's 50/50, it makes sure that some of the participants are definitely going to lose this prediction. If we have all six skill/strategy based predictions, the Jumbos and Bingos will be more normal a thing; which can kill the excitement about them.

I get it. It's just quite a big difference in points between all correct including the toss and all correct but toss wrong.
You have convinced me on your reasoning for having it in but I am still stuck on the points gap.
reply
Are you saying that the 'correct coin toss prediction' gives you 4 extra points?
The gap in points isn't only because the coin toss prediction. You only get a Jumbo when your all predictions are correct.
There are overall 6 predictions to make in every round.
If any 4 of your predictions are correct, you get 4 runs, the difference occurs when the 5th one goes correct, instead of 5 points, you get 6 points.
And when all of your predictions are correct, instead of 6, you get 10 runs.
I understand what you're pointing to. It's a sudden jump from 6 to 10 points, for 5 correct to 6 correct predictions, which is a difference of 4 runs, it's huge gap.
But technically, we can only reduce it to 9 runs. If we reduce it to 8 runs, there's no difference between a Bingo and a Jumbo prediction.
A Bingo prediction gives you 1 extra run so, a Jumbo prediction should at least give you 2 extra runs.
Bingo= 6 runs Jumbo= 6 + 1 + (3 extra runs for predicting all correct).
I hope you now understand, how much of maths, I had to apply behind all of this.
We can onl reduce it to 9 points for the sake of Jumbo's importance and distinction with Bingo.

I understand. I am not saying you should change it. It’s your pool and it’s going great. Was just giving my impression that’s all.

Thanks. I appreciate your impression. However, I gave the point system a proper thought before applying and it's same for everyone.
I'm not gonna change it but surely we'll be seeing some other 'Bonus Run' question than 'the coin toss one' in some rounds.

It is fun to have this large bonus.

Yes. There could have been a huge difference in fun if we didn't have it. I'm now starting to think that I'm pretty good at creating fun games. Haha.
