i don't know about taxes, but i think for most people it's just a question of what countries they prefer the vibe in. my neighbor lives in a village in Bulagaria and he loves it because he can do whatever he wants and has made his own little compound, but this would not be everyone's cup of tea.

so i think it's more about personal priorities and personal taste in general and looking at countries that can meet personal needs.

in any case, i think a compromise will be inevitable as nowhere is perfect
