When I’m trying to introduce people to lightning (usually nocoiners, occasionally passive bitcoin hodlers), there is a standard kind of “tour” I wind up doing:
  • have them download a lightning wallet, send them sats, have them send a few back
  • have them use their new LN wallet to feed the chickens on pollofeed
  • play a round of cards together on lightning-poker, then cash out (or lightning-roulette)
  • I show them fountain
  • (new) show them SN
I feel like having a whistle-stop tour showing off various facets of lightning (fast cheap easy p2p payments, whacky applications built on lightning, semi-anonymous gambling, innovative creator economics, rewarding community for participation with micropayments) is a fun way to show people that lightning is useful and maybe one thing or another will resonate with them.
What do you like to show people to show-off lightning?

This goes in line with what I want to build, a whole LN onboarding experience no-coiners can choose to do in order to see first hand and understand the capabilities.
From the ones you mentioned I would also recommend:
  • https://yalls.org so they can pay a few Sats to read articles.
  • https://www.ibexpay.io/pay-locations this is also fun in case they want to see physical locations where they can spend their Sats.
  • http://lightninglogin.live/ Recently I’ve been fascinated by LNURL-auth so having them sign-up/login to a website using their LN Wallet is the best feeling ever.
  • https://lightning.store/ This one is also fun to buy some merch or just transact online with a lightning wallet and experience the whole flow
  • https://paywithmoon.com This one I personally think is the most powerful one, being able to load a virtual visa you can load on Apple Pay or Android Pay and be able to pay anywhere.
This is what I’m trying to build #78021
Basically creating a delayed/self on-boarding for a nocoiner when they are gifted Sats and the person is not able to do a full onboarding right on the spot.

Love that idea. Kinda like a welcome basket.

Maybe download a THNDR game? The withdrawls are super easy. Solitare (called Club Bitcoin) does withdrawls every hour (on the hour) so they can see earning a couple of sats and withdrawing it right away.
