While Jade is one of the less bad and less overpriced overhyped HWs I would always recommend people learn how to build their own cold storage...to maximise your monetary sovereignty.
Its not difficult and completely frees you from dependence upon these third party devices.

IMO diy cold storage is far superior as you are more in control and you learn in the process rather than being reliant upon a gadget.

Bought two of them a while ago but I soon found out they do not support taproot addresses which makes them useless for my intended use. Cool devices though.

Isn't supporting Taproot addresses a matter of what client you're using rather than the hardware signer? And even in the latter case, can't this be fixed by a firmware upgrade?
Yes it can be supported by a future firmware upgrade (which is in fact planned for a while now).
The clients I've used all support taproot but the device can't handle it yet.
