I see it all around me. Everyone is looking for real, genuine engagement with others. It seems to be happening more and more.
My children at school ask me how they can signal that they are a worthwhile person to spend time with.
They are fed up with shallow, meaningless engagement.
I think social media is a big part of that. Most people on social media are just NPCs. Hell, even I was an NPC most of the time. Of course you have your heroes on Instagram and whatnot. Your cool influencers. But which ones really interact with you? None!
This is why I love nostr so damn much! I can write to Odell, American Hodl or Walker and they respond. They think about my post and respond in a non dull way.
And I see it even more in my everyday life. My wife and I have our local grocery store where we go shopping after work. The staff are basically dead zombies walking around and doing their jobs. Most of them are NPCs, nobody cares about them. But since the last few weeks they have a new employee. A woman in her mid-40s, I would guess. She always has a big smile on her face, looks like she enjoys her work, is friendly and wishes you a wonderful way in non-standard phrases.
It is fun to shop there! We even go to her till, even though the queue is longer than the others.
She gives something the others don't. Genuine commitment!
Back to the kids at school, they always ask why there aren't more teachers like me, they think Im cool or special, which Im definitely not. But the difference is that I care. I listen to them, even if it sounds stupid. I take the time to engage with them and take them seriously and they soak it up like a sponge!
People lack meaningful engagement with others, which is why they miss it so much.
Nostr is a great social media solution for that. The same goes for SN. The ability to zap, to show that you care more than a meaningless like, signals real interest and engagement.
This is what we need to bring to the real world, as well as bitcoiners these days, to win the hearts of NPCs and offer them the orange pill to escape the matrix and come back to a life of authentic people, meaning and engagement.
So to my American friends, use the opportunity of Thanksgiving to reach out to your loved ones and your close community to give them what they seek!
It’s all about humanity and interaction.

Connecting with the like-minded is a pleasure.

Isn't that even harder? But luckily I managed with @denlillaapan

There is no greater feeling for me than truly connecting with others. What a time to be alive.

Everyone just wants to be acknowledged
I say this all the time to my Son
Walk down the road and you'll walk past hundreds of people with zero interaction, but everyone is exactly like you, thinking the same things.
If you say good morning to someone they'll immediately return the comment
It's like they're in a dormant social state waiting for someone to wake them from their matrix like slumber
Driving is another classic example, everyone is on the same road, the same intersection, if you take the time to acknowledge another driver, give them a nod or a thumbs up, they immediately respond

Humility and open-mindedness are key! Be aware of what is happening around you.

I also love the black girl at the supermarket near me. Ever since she's been working there, I've never had the feeling that I've chosen the wrong checkout! Ahah

Exactly!

Everyone wants to be important- and this need not be a bad thing because in a healthy community everyone IS important.
The difficulty comes in the power structures that develop and compete for attention.
It is a complex problem and probably can never be fully solved but only a little at a time each and every day...with love and patience.

Spread the love!

Yeah, it feels like fake interactions are becoming more common around, and even normal for a lot of people - living just to fulfill their todays needs, not thinking too much about long-term relations at all. Lately I've been thinking about it too how much nobody cares anymore; its sad but really hard to change. Tiktok people seems to have their own world
