The “Jesus screw” is a fundamental part of helicopters, responsible for connecting the main rotor (which provides lift and control) to the aircraft’s mast. Its function is simple, but essential: to keep the rotor fixed during flight. If this part fails, the rotor will come loose, resulting in total loss of control of the aircraft.

Imagine how much inspection this part needs to go through to enable the helicopter to exit. If an accident of this magnitude happens, it is easy to detect and also who to blame.

Wow!! What a great fact! I didn't know that. And what a peculiar name for that piece... I imagine they call it that because if it fails, "Jesus or God" alone will be able to save people from certain death...
