How about we blame and charge the businesses and owners hiring non-citizen/resident peoples, instead of the poor, desperate people - who wouldn't come if the were not hireable without legal documents?

Absolutely right! Businesses that hire undocumented workers take advantage of them by paying very low wages to make more money. Instead of blaming desperate workers, we should hold these employers accountable. Enforcing fair hiring practices should be made.

We estimate that 59 percent of illegal immigrant households use one or more major welfare programs, costing roughly $42 billion a year. At the local level, the largest single cost is for public education. We estimate the cost of educating the children of illegal immigrants, most of whom are U.S.-born, totals $69 billion per year. While illegal immigrants often receive other services for their U.S.-born children, even when we estimate the net fiscal impact of just the illegal immigrants themselves, excluding their U.S.-born children, we still find they create a lifetime net fiscal drain of $68,000 on average (taxes paid minus benefits received).

plus medical costs and long lines at hospitals
How many illegal immigrants receive Medicaid? HHS doesn't check immigration status

Yes, there is a long list of hidden cost. How about adding 15-30M more people to roads? More potholes, etc.
reply
I think you're complaining about the costs without questioning the benefits. There must be a long list of hidden benefits, too right? What would those be? Lower labor costs in the listed industries must have multiplyer effects.

Fair point.

The costs associated with welfare and health care and education and voter registration fraud eradicate any gains or benefits from illegal employment
And then add in the negative effects of immigrant crime

I don't like victim blaming, when the benefactors aren't even challenged.
Better!

Aren't we all mostly immigrants when we look back far enough. Why are some of us "illegal". What does that mean?

That's not about historical migration i think. It refers to crossing borders or staying in a country without following its immigration laws.
reply
That makes sense. I just feel borders are silly. In my experience, illegal Mexicans are often the hardest workers.

Should immigrants be excluded from welfare handouts such as Medicaid?

Once undocumented immigrants set foot on the land, it's not good idea to deny them proper Medicaid and let them suffer or die without basic care. First and foremost, there needs to be a system to identify undocumented immigrants and establish a new law for them. They should either be expelled or granted legal to stay, ensuring fairness for all.
reply
They can get health care without government insurance
They don't need Medicaid to get 'basic care'
