Makes me excited for the future for sure
reply
Same here. Makes me realize just how early we really are.
reply
Everyone keeps saying we are early but when you see this it shows we have hardly started
reply
Yep. I think we are still early until the block subsidy is less than 1.00000000 bitcoin.

Seeing these dates gives me chills, not even our grandchildren will be able to be there when the last block is mined?
We have to teach our children very well so that they teach their children and so on so that everything we have piled up today will last.
reply
I don’t think blocks stop being mined. Miners just stop getting subsidized for it
reply
Yes, blocks continue to get mined but the only compensation for miners will be the miner fees.

For those of use who are Gen-Z, there may well be a chance that they themselves will live to see the final halving. I was born in '99, so I've only got to make it to 137 years!
There's a fair chance my kids might see it, and I'd bet at least one of my grandkids will. Assuming I'm around 55 when they're born, they only have to reach 82 years.

It depends on when you have kids and when your kids have kids. I think it’s certainly possible in some situations where your grandchildren would be alive when the last block is mined.
reply
This chart just shows all of the halvings and the end of the block subsidy portion of the block reward.
It’s not when the last block is mined.

Right, I made a goof. I know blocks will continue to be mined indefinitely, just when the subsidy goes away and fees take over.

Excellent resource, thanks for sharing... this is clear proof that it is still too early to see how much Bitcoin can grow. What we have is a baby Bitcoin 🍼 🍊 Baby Satoshis

GENERATIONAL wealth eh
reply
Absolutely.
I can hold long enough to pass some sats along to future generations but I’m not sure they will have the conviction to do the same.
Maybe time-locks are the best method for long term savings after we are gone.
