In my last post, I put out a bounty for for a few ice breakers, because I've been running kinda low on ideas lately. Thought I'd mention a few from there:
  • What's the last thing you learned about, or taught someone about? (post winner, @itsrealfake)
  • How do you like your coffee? (runner up, @cryotosensei)
  • If you could live a day as a fictional character, who would it be and what would you do? - (runner up, @JohnySats)
  • What’s the song you hate to love but always sing along to? - (also @JohnySats)
Here are a bunch I've used with great success in the past:
  • What would be you C-Tier super power? (e.g., hearing your dog's thoughts, summon any $5 item once a day, never being cold, etc)
  • What fictional universe would you live in?
  • What's a useless skill you have?
  • If you could become an expert in any topic or skill overnight, what would you choose?
  • What is the BEST outside temperature? (this one turns out to be super divisive and fun in multiple contexts. Similarly, "how hot is too hot outside" or "how cold is too cold" are also good)
  • If you could go to any concert, who would you see?
  • If you could have any wild animal as a domesticated pet, what would you choose?
  • If you could BE any animal, what would you be?

What's the last thing you learned about, or taught someone about?
This is good on several levels. The answer is bound to be interesting, because we learn by choice, or by force which comes with a story.
the last thing
Very simple memory operation to find the latest instance of something.
or taught someone about?
An escape hatch if the person's ego can't acknowledge they weren't born with it.

Great questions! I have a colleague who asked us that useless skill question.
My reply was: I know how to sing Loy Kratong, a famous Thai song
