I cannot humiliate my dogs by putting clothes on them. I would like to think they have some pride and would not suffer this embarrassment, but perhaps I'm being selfish.

You're absolutely right! I don't like it either. An animal is an animal, not a person! If they don't want to get wet, they won't go out in the rain. If they do, it's because they don't care.
