The Perth Heat are back for their 2024/2025 Australian Baseball League Season!
They kicked off the season by splitting a four game series with the Brisbane Bandits.
Here is how it played out:
Game 1- The Heat started hot with a 5-0 win. Their Starting Pitcher, Young Woo Shin, pitched 4 scoreless innings and had 8 strikeouts. While, RF Angel Mateo, did most of the damage with the bat going 2-4 with a homerun and 4 rbis.
Game 2- The Heat picked up the win, beating the Bandits 5-2. Relief Pitcher, Tucker Smith, picked up the win pitching 2 1/3 innings, giving up only 1 run, with 4 strikeouts. The offense was led by LF Jess Williams who was 2-2 with a walk and 2 rbis.
Game 3- The Heat suffered their first loss falling 7-0 to the Bandits. A rough go on the pitching side with Relief Pitcher, Jai Hewitt, being the lone bright sport going 1 2/3 innings without surrendering a run. The bats didn't help much either getting shut out. Although LF Jess Williams continued his hot start going 2-4.
Game 4- In game 4 the Heat once again fell by a score of 7-0. More issues on the pitching side with only relief pitcher, Brodie Cooper-Vassalakis, pitching scoreless frames. Nothing noteworthy on the hitting side as the Heat only mustered 3 hits all game.
A good start but then a rough ending to the series has the Heat currently sitting at 2-2. They will face the 3-1 Sydney Blue Sox this coming weekend in their second series of the season.
Go Heat!

Mediocrity? Starting hot and then failing? Or adopting a bitcoin standard?

The bitcoin part. I glossed over the rest, because it's about Australian baseball.

It is pretty good quality ball. I have watched a couple games. I am trying to get someone from the Heat to come on for an AMA. I have an ABL insider connection. You may not know this but a transient stacker is a former ABL player.
