@siggy47 has written 40 weekly newsletters for ~BooksAndArticles but his latest one #774024 split the sats the newsletter post gets with the top two authors for the week me and @SimpleStacker.
I LOVE this idea! I know @grayruby does a 2000 sat bounty for his free weekend pick ‘em of NFL games, but I think it’s just for his amusement I don’t think it boosts territory revenue. So I don’t think just giving sats away quite does it.
Don’t get me wrong I’ll keep guessing for the 49ers to lose, but I do feel more incentivized to not just pay-to-post on SN, but post articles in ~BooksAndArticles! Which gives @siggy47 direct revenue of course.
Should more territories do this?
I haven't done the math, but my general idea was to grow territory revenue while giving back to the best creators in the territory. I am trying something different with bitcoin beginners, where I am literally trying to award top posts more as my revenue grows. Again, it's not mathematically exact, but I donate an award pool of 2000 sats a week. If the weekly territory revenue exceeds 2000 sats average per day, I increase the weekly pool size by that amount. So far it has only happened once.

So it’s NOT just charity you ARE trying to game territory revenue!😈

I do this every week with my betting recap but it doesn't boost the territory revenue. Whatever sats are zapped to the post net of fees get forwarded to whoever and in what percentage you define.
In my case it actually hurts territory revenue because if I forward sats to Undisciplined and Blokchainb they cannot zap the post (unless they log in as anon of course).

You have always been very generous in your territory. I think you are at the point now where it won't be necessary. You're becoming profitable and I feel you're getting lots of synergy from different directions. Other territories like mine still need more obvious incentives.

I see you have 4 territories. I think one stacker can better manage one territory at a time. @grayruby is doing it well because he only has one. I'm not in doubt of your capabilities but this is what I felt. I also believe that anything in the creative zone must be full of interest to be popular. Sometimes we need to generate interest and Sometimes it's already there. For sports, It's always there but for Books it's always less than sports.
For ~Books_and_articles, my suggestion would be to draft a few competitions for creative writings or can be a monthly contest of book reading where you will ask questions from the book and the replies will get points or marks. Something like that, may be.

I think it really depends on the goals of a territory owner. I own 4 territories because I believe in SN and saw an opportunity to make a long term investment here. Each territory is different. One of them was a complete lark that I wanted to own even though it will probably take years to break even. Another one, which I put little time into yet, is performing the best despite my lack of attention. I don't care, because I'm retired and have the time to try different ideas at my own pace. I know others may not have that luxury.
On another point, people look at territories as a bad investment, but consider this: a few months back there was a lot of macro FUD about something or other, and it seemed pretty obvious that the fiat value of bitcoin would take a hit. I made a post asking if anyone intended to buy a territory when it dropped. I think the price wound up in the high 40s, a little less than half of what it is now. If someone bought a territory then, the financial pressure would be alleviated. You could stack sats for the rest of your life here if you believe SN is viable long term. I think it is.
If you didn't think so, you could sell your territory at or below market price with no financial risk.

Thanks for the reply. Because you own them with an aim set in future, I've no doubts as I Saud about intentions, but I was talking in the context with.
Other territories like mine still need more obvious incentives.
So, I was thinking what it might be that @graruby's territory is profitable now.
If you can wait for ages to see it profitable, who can object it? But I really want you tk consider my nothing suggestion.

About a contest? I ran two in books and articles. There seemed to be little interest after the first two. I run a contest every week in beginners.
Sometimes users do a better job. If you want, run a writing contest in my territory. I'll even help you out with sats if I like your idea.

I'll seriously give it a thought. Thanks.

I’ll help judge 😈
I believe it’s viable long term!

I think it is feasible to have 4 successful territories once you get them over the hump and they can self sustain without the founder being the main contributor to the territory. It’s a long term play. I think we will eventually get there but it will be a slog.
reply
The best kind of slog. With fellow stackers!

What I meant is, do you feel like forwarding sats from your betting recaps encourage more ppl to post in your territory to help you earn more revenue overall?
reply
No. I do it to reward Blok and Undisciplined because they were the first ones to post betting related content in the territory and I essentially forked their series.

I really like the idea of forwarding portions of sats to other people.
Would be cool to see authors compensated seamlessly when one of their articles was shared on SN
reply
Yea I mean the person sharing the link gets referral sats!
