1 Have you ever thought why USA has a Statue of Liberty and not a Statue of Freedom?
Do you know why in the US Constitution, the word freedom is mentioned only once (not even by itself, only as freedom of speech), but the word liberty voluntary abused 7 times?
What's the difference between Liberty and Freedom?
Sometimes I wonder if ~liberitarian(s) know what they are talking about? It surprises me to see how people use the words liberty and freedom interchangeably, without criteria, without really know what they are communicating, and the sometimes annoying misuse of both words. So maybe is just me being picky or there's in general a lack in the general knowledge we all share?
And guess what!? Some languages do not even have a word for freedom, especially latin languages... funny, eh! Like Spanish, French, Italian... but don't trust me, verify it!
We are so deeply limited by the language(s) we use, our behaviors systems, that we can not even imagine. Anyway, I'd like to challenge you on this today, and see if you stackers can come up with the right definitions:
- Define the difference(s) between freedom and liberty
- Find the translations of both words in your (or any other) language, if it exists.
