I recall a conversation I had with some politically vocal leftist people I know maybe 8 years ago. They were talking about how much racism there is. And then they proceeded to speak in massive generalities about people from the south. I mentioned that they sounded very bigoted to me. I pointed out that having lived in the west, mid-west, and south I've encountered bigotry and racism everywhere I've lived. But its hard to have any credibility on bigotry when you demonstrate it.
One cannot change their "race" but they also can't change where they are from. Racism is terrible but its only one form of hatred. An ugly one and one that is rightfully despised. Bigotry is far more acceptable as long as you pick the right group.
