I have to deal with some similar issues as an educator.
I try to strike a balance. To me, if all they're asking you is to change the words you use without changing your actual practice, then that's a compromise I'm willing to accept.
I'm always figuring out how to speak in ways that are broadly appealing, without compromising my values. I think if you can do so skillfully, you can even persuade some people to slowly start seeing things your way, by using language that they can understand and find acceptable.
Thanks for your perspective. It comes in handy when I’m trying to digest this feedback lol. I think just knowing that a fellow teacher is facing similar struggles and trying to find the middle ground helps a lot.
