I wrote about the ry3t miner here before
So i thought maybe you are interested in an update.
How does the process work
The ry3t is not a room heater like for example the one from 21energy. So this means the ry3t is gonna replace your existing heating system (oil in my case). It will be connected to the existing hot water circuits of the house, so this needs installation work.
It also means you probably need to be the owner of the house, or have a really nice landlord, which is my brother in my case...
For this reason, when you order a ry3t, Christian will contact you and will come to your house and check/discuss the existing installations and how the ry3t will be integrated... So I think at the moment you can only buy a ry3t in DACH region because of that..
In my case, the miner will be installed in parallel to the existing system for the first winter. It will be installed in front of the oil heater, ensuring i won't have troubles if something doesn't work with the ry3t... (Because the oil heater would take over then)
We will make use of the existing hot water buffer tank, so the miner will not only heat my house but also provide hot water๐
So when all these things are cleared out, you will get an offer for the ry3t and all the installation works needed.
If you are okay with the offer, you sign the buying contract from the company.
We are in the "try before you buy" setup here, so we can return the ry3t during the first 3 months if we are not convinced..
This is where we are now, we signed the contract and the next step is the acutal installation.
When can i take the first shower with bitcoin powered hot water?
Keep in mind that this is a startup, I will actually get one of the very first 5 produced ry3ts. So in my initial post i was expecting the ry3t in october... As you can see the process has delayed.. They put the miners on a test bench and let it run for a long time to ensure everything is right..
At the moment the goal is to install it before christmas..
I am kind of a beta tester๐ Because I live in a town next to where Christian lives this is handy for both sides...
Why
- i love the idea, if we all heat like this, decentralization of btc mining is no longer a problem
- i don't like the oil heater.. Really, it smells, is loud and uses a lot of space
- as prices go up, buying sats will become more and more expensive, so I kind of see it like "stacking through heating". I know my electricity bill will go up, but I also no longer need to buy oil and I'm sure it will pay out in the future..
- when this works out, i can completely remove the oil heater and the oil tank. That means my music room will get drastically bigger ๐ As the ry3t doesn't produce noise, i can also use the room where the heater is located more... (I am already thinking of a whirlpool haha, imagine sitting in the bubble bath and looking at the ry3t that mines btc to heat the bath... ๐
Okay, guess thats it for now. Will of course update you as soon as installation works begin..
Wish you all a nice day!
