I’ve made some progress on catching up on BIP reviews. I’ve already reviewed the following five this week:
  • Asynchronous Payjoin
  • OP_PAIRCOMMIT
  • Discrete Log Equality Proots
  • QuBit—P2QRH spending rules
  • Sending Silent Payments in PSBTs
I also hosted a very short Bitcoin Optech Recap yesterday. The rest of the week, I will work on some Bitcoin Core reviews, preparation for a talk and a workshop session next week, and touching up my own pull request.

Going to start work on a video project idea I've had for a bit now. Figured it was time to post a vague comment on SN about it to help hold myself accountable.

Implementing a new outputs operating mode to our controller's. This operation mode applies to a crosswalk, it will control a light signal with several parts and road studs. It will work with radio frequency for wireless communication between crosswalks.

Working through my third week after quitting my fiat job and going full time on Lightning Pay. Amazing feeling being able to dedicate myself to building a bitcoin business that's sorely needed (and missing) in New Zealand.
We've been operating for about 9 months now, and are now facing our first bull market problems! Hopefully our big plans don't get delayed too much. Main goal this week is to keep working through some of our product questions about how to better integrate our fast fiat rails to improve the sat stacking experience with Fiat -> Lightning -> Cold Storage and back for spending.

Great work and you gonna create for much needed nz economy. Lived for ten years but moved to Aussie to stack more.

Hey if you want to post anything about this on
it would be great- as a NZer who has only just started using LN while traveling overseas I am now excited to get back to NZ next month and be part of seeing MoE use grow there.
I have already put up some links to your work on the sub sidebar but any posts or further updates would be appreciated.
reply
Yeah, thanks, I'll do that.
reply
oh paying bills directly. That's cool.
reply
Yep! Thanks. That's my favourite thing we've done so far for sure. The best excuse to have less cash in the bank I've ever had.

The site looks nice and I see that is very well documented the support page with very detailed guides.
I see you have also OTC, that is really interesting. Well done!
Unfortunately I do not live in NZ but I added your website /services in my lists. Living in NZ was one of my old dreams but i couldn't make it come true.

I'm an expat myself, coming from the US about 8 years ago for the fiat job. Luckily, got myself in a position to stay and quit that job! The bitcoin community is not huge here, but very strong, and we punch above our weight I think. The power of meetups is what precipitated that change, getting connected to the community and getting some like minded friends is a game changer.
reply
I have a friend from UK that is moving to NZ these days. Please can you give a contact for him to connect with this local BTC community? Do you guys have a meetup place or something?
reply
Sure thing, I' be happy to connect your friend with the community here. We have meetups in every major city these days, and a major event that hops around the country every quarter. Next big one is in beautiful Queenstown on March 1. Easiest way to reach me on nostr (npub19zvj4ssnqjn8v37qq0ha76q22vf4venhkuxdw75ehszujqayjuqspdz3fd) or at the same handle @btcnautilus on X and Telegram.

And thanks for adding us to your site by the way. I've used it quite a bit myself, great resource your providing there, I commend you for the obvious mountain of work you've done there. We're trying to do the same (as you've noted), but we have a ways to go to catch up to you!

I just thought you could make a kind of wizard guide for attaching wallets.

Planned. :)
We had ideas about asking questions like "do you run a node?" or "do you know what a lightning address is?" etc. and based on the answers we then suggest wallets.
But first we need to stop shoving protocols in everybody’s face.
reply
I often say that when someone has an idea, millions of people have already thought of it!
Simplifying to help newcomers is good but don't overdo it, technical information should be seen. Whoever wants to, of course.
Another idea, you could collapse p2p notifications, autowithdraw, ...

These will send you to individual invoices though so we need to solve this first
reply
I don't get it. The idea was just to aggregate notifications.

Oh, you meant that these are collapsed by default and you can uncollapse them to click on them individually? That could work.
reply
yes, collapsed by default and you can expand clicking on '+'
This means we need to show as many wallets as possible so stackers can find their wallet.

Trying to get over Covid- its the first time I have (knowingly) had it. Had a vaccine boost about a month before getting it which hopefully reduces the damage it can do to my body tissues. The fact that the virus promotes blood clots is a bit scary. So just resting and watching some videos, chatting online, eating healthy fresh food and not doing too much exercise.
