I'm curious. I don't push my political views on people. If they ask I talk pretty freely about my views but most progressives I call friends or colleagues don't ask. But they sure do whine about Trump. I've heard two people in my circle talk about actively searching for places to move. One said they had passports if they need to leave quickly.
I know...
Curious if others that actually have "progressive" friends are hearing stuff like this. Now, I will be very surprised if they actually go through with it. I think these people have been mentally abused by the corporate press, the establishment, and the Democrat party into believing lies about Donald Trump. I'm not a fan of Mr. Trump but the dogma about him has reached absurd levels.
I honestly feel sorry for these folks. I try to talk them down. They have none of it. Its sad. Their brains are switched off. What has been done to them is truly evil.
So, am I alone in this experience. I realize some of you probably don't have friends so you can just abstain from responding ;)
I don't know, but suspiciously they only seem to want to move to predominantly white countries....
reply
good observation
the non-white people want to move to white countries also but that's another issue for another thread
reply
I know zero exceptions to this...and I know lots of these folks...
reply
several, both friends and family. i live on the west coast. none of them are serious, just processing as their reality is rugged from under them.
reply
I honestly do not understand how people are surprised by the outcome. They are incredibly out of touch with reality.
reply
if your news comes from the liberal political industrial complex pipeline, entirely possible.
reply
Its so weird if they live on the west coast. Do they not understand state vs Federal? Do they actually think Trump can just dictate?
One of my colleagues said democracy is dead. I replied, well if this is all it took to kill it, it's been dead for a long time. Maybe it just doesn't work?
They said maybe. It's all so absurd. But it's like a car accident. I can't look away.
reply
100%. i dont think their machine has the flexibility to give them the answers or language to even explore the right topics to determine what happened...based on the dialogues ive been privy to.
reply
I am moving back to the US in January after 4 years in Spain
reply
Is this due to the election result?
reply
In part yes, but not solely. If the elections result was the opposite, I would not be planning it.
reply
Interesting. Not sure I would do the same... but I get it if it is one of several factors. Elections are useful for judging the area you may want to live. Going down to the county level is useful for example.
reply
None, but one former coworker posted a Facebook tantrum and then unfriended everyone she thought voted for Trump. So that was amusing.
reply
If I thought people I knew were Hitler supporters that would make sense. What doesn't make sense is the actions of Trump's opponents. It's almost like it's all a lie...
reply
That’s the truly disgusting thing. Trump’s opponents know it is a total lie but many of their supporters have bought into it completely. All it takes for a tragedy to arise is for one person with a mental illness to fall for the lies.
reply
Yeah, it's pure evil what politicians and their operatives do.
reply
None, yet. I hope they put their money and action where their mouths are. What is is about these people that makes them run away from the challenges they face? I could guess, but that would be putting my point of view on them and I don’t really want to do that.
reply
US democratic coalition so funny to me...and fked. they having no kids and leave when they lose. good luck! 😂
reply
Yes, they need luck very badly, they have nothing else to offer.
reply
They don't leave though... they are all talk
reply
Yes, hot air flows freely, but their feet do not move.
reply
true, as soon as they realize there is effort involved and how much freedom and wealth they lose by expatriating...staying doesnt sound so bad.
reply
I don’t think they did any really serious thinking in the first place. Just following the crowd as usual. Sheep will flock off!
reply
On the contrary I know many conservatives that picked up and moved after 2020. No shame in voting with your feet.
reply
I guess it depends upon where you are going. I think the conservatives left states like Californicated, Illinois and New York for Texas, Florida and others like them. I don’t think many expatriated.
reply
Yeah, that's what I mean. Moving from from high tax states with more oppressive regimes to lower tax states where there are more like minded people isn't dumb. Its much easier than leaving the US.
reply
Yes, and a lot more people did it. It is only a shame that the communists opened the border for anyone to enter (invade) to take their places (The Great Replacement).
Haha l found your last comment hilarious.
reply
reply
zero.
BUT...
I don't live in America. And I haven't spoken to anybody about it (good effing topic to avoid!)
reply
I don't think I mentioned that I'm NOT BRINGING UP politics. They are. I agree with you. I try to avoid it with NPCs.
reply
like... out of the blue?
"Hi, how are you? "Good, thanks -- saw the election last week? Me and the wifey are really thinking about Aruba now" "uh-hu... TMI, bro"
reply
Pretty much. Lull in the conversation about something else and one of the guys started up with it being a hard week. And then they move talk came up.
reply
People bluffed about moving to Canada after Bush won re-election in 2004 (and the popular vote too).
Heard this again in 2016.
I haven't heard much this year but I deleted Facebook in 2020.
I encourage these people to leave the country. Perhaps some time away will give them some much needed perspective.
reply
FWIW I encouraged them as well.
But do you know anyone personally that has said this. Social media people don't count. Actual people you know.
reply
not since 2016
I've lost touch with many since then especially since 2020 (no major incidents rather general drifting apart)
reply
Makes sense
reply
NONE! Some previous Democrats actually voted for Trump. Everyone knows it, the 'left' went too far, like WAY too far. They are still not getting it, I'm seeing Memes about "enjoy your lower cost eggs" etc..yeah while what? You get to continue being a dumbass and literally nothing happening to you? Oh except doing this. Ah that is why we are upset?
reply
Zero
They seemed fairly resigned to it.
reply
The left seems to have lost the energy for protesting as well.
As Scott Adams said on X, losing the popular vote was a reality bender for the left.
reply
The pop vote is such a dumb line for both sides. At most one side has about a third of the population every 4 years...
reply
You have friends?
Just kidding.
reply
No, just talking about random people I know.
reply
The biggest move they will do is leave California to go to Texas while still advocating that socialist policies are good
reply
Campaigning for more war, inflation and censorship and expecting to win is definitely being out if touch. All this while raising and spending three times the amount of money that Trump did, losing and ending up with a 20 million deficit. Well imagine if the country's finances had been handed to the Harrys camp
