Spotted wild chickens running around in the neighbourhood park!
  • A hen lays eggs on land
  • The hard shell of an egg protects the chick developing inside
  • The egg yolk contains food for the chick
  • A chick hatches from an egg
  • The chick looks similar to / resembles the adult
  • An adult chicken is able to reproduce
  • A hen provides warmth (incubation) to the eggs
So which came first, the chicken or the egg?
We had chickens for a long time in their coop giving us plenty of eggs all the time. Way better than store bought. One day instead of buying more feed, I let them roam around our property instead of buying more. The eggs got so much better. Like almost overnight. Not super relevant to your post, but it always amazes me when I think about it.

Thanks for sharing your precious memory! Perhaps the chickens felt less stressed and hence, could lay better quality eggs

I remember being a kid back in China, when we visit relatives in the country side or go back to the country side for 清明節, my cousins and I would run around chasing free roaming roosters and chickens on mud paths. Fun times.
