The story of Pat Tilman is one that I wish was talked about so much more than it is. Giving up his lucrative NFL career to join the military and then work his ass off to not only reach but graduate from Ranger school and enter the US Special Forces ranks is remarkable.

For someone who gave so much what the US military did putting his family, friends, and fellow soldiers through all the lies and deceit was beyond disgusting. While fellow soldiers in his platoon were punished and accepted it no one who actually created or spread the lies was punished and instead ordered those involved to stay quiet.

His family deserved the truth immediately when it was confirmed but as we know that was not the case. No family should ever have to beg the military for answers when the military clearly has them. While conspiracy theories have continued to float around all these years later the sad truth is we will never get the answer that we want.

Pat Tilman truly embodied someone who put the country ahead of himself and did so even when he did not agree with what was going on.
