Over the last few weeks, it seems like everyone has been getting prepped for election misinformation to hit the US hard. However, as the polls have begun to close it seems like the misinformation at least BEFORE the election was either overblown OR tech companies were quick to identify and take care of the issue. Even X for what it's worth the kinda crap that was attempted to be spread via impersonating the FBI was honestly really bad and easy to see through.
Did anyone else run into anything? I'm wondering if those who wish to interfere in the elections have chosen to wait until after the fact. What do yall think?
What specifically are you considering misinformation?
Every campaign ad that says "Donald Trump's Project 2025..." is misinformation. You must mean something other than intentionally misrepresenting the truth or you wouldn't be struggling to spot it.

Yeah I see the confusion! Definitely not things that have been talking points by the mainstream opposite party. Another one was Trump would sign a nationwide abortion ban even though he said multiple times he would veto it if it crossed his desk.
So other outside not necessarily fringe but out there attempts to undermine if that makes sense. I was expecting to see for instance a ton of deep fake stuff but that didn't seem to come to fruition
reply
Gotcha
I saw someone posting a photo of their electronic ballot where Trump didn't appear on the first page of candidates, but Kamala did.
The implication was obviously that "they" are trying to hide Trump from voters. However, I'm pretty sure it was just a randomized candidate order.

Ahhh yeah that would make sense esp since some states do stuff like that. Still doesn't seem we have had near the deep fakes or other issues that we were told to prep for if that makes sense
reply
You might be right about that. I spend virtually no time on regular social media platforms or corporate news outlets, so I wouldn't know either way.

I have cut it back significantly during the election season because I was expecting a ton of BS but i never saw any and I never heard so I was interested in seeing what the rest of SN heard or saw!
I love this new territory thanks @hasherstacker!
reply
I always cut way back in election season too. That's probably not as easy for someone in your line of work.
reply
Yeah.... I honestly kinda just listen to my coworkers and even they try to just close my office door and not listen.
Otherwise I would likely have worried myself into an early grave
I was first to report on SN about the misinformation on 'The Daily Zap'

Have you seen anything though? We have been told by the FBI for weeks now it is coming but I never saw anything and most of my friends never saw anything either
reply
I didn't see anything and I affirm that nothing really has happened. Putin and his agencies are severely tied down in battle. There's no chance and they also don't have interest to influence the elections.

See I would see them trying to push Harris more than Trump because she just seems to be the weaker leader. Iran and NK would likely want to do the same given previous history
reply
This entry of Russia and NK is a big exaggeration. There's never a proof. If Kamala becomes president, she'll be as powerful as any US president.

Wasn’t there a warning about Russian disinformation just yesterday or the day before? Haha
reply
You betcha! They closed polling places in Georgia because the “Russians” were calling in bomb threats. But, they said, “They were calling the wrong Georgia!” What utter BS.

Thats what I;m talking about!
Hell today at work though the Capitol Visitor Center was forced to close after a guy who was covered in gasoline and carrying a blow torch and flare gun tried to come into it and set himself on fire......

Yeah.... I never imagined it really being a form of "protest" in the US but this is the second person to try in just a couple of weeks.....
reply
Yep we do
reply
Examples?
reply
Yes there are many and especially those indicating Russian hand in influencing the elections.
reply
Okay so what have you seen? We keep hearing it but we arent seeing any examples besides the FBI logo on X today.

I think we are already seeing misinformation, in what way? The results of the polls. In the last few weeks, the results of the polls that have been shown have strangely placed both participants very evenly, and in some they even dared to say that Kamala was leading in the statistics.
reply
Isn’t everything coming over MSM mis- mal- or disinformation? They can’t even keep their stories straight!
reply
Go look at Miami-Dade! Trump massively out performed there and CNN's exit poll has highlighted pretty big issues in Georgia for Harris with the economy mattering most and black males voting more for Trump. We will see how it all plays out but it is pretty surprising so far
reply
Yes. The election is misinformation.
