Welcome to the 48th edition of The Daily Zap — A Daily Newspaper (Kind of 🙏). Here, you'll get links to all of the latest news and updates mostly from the last 24 hours, divided in Sections (much similar to pages on a newspaper).
Let's unfold!

~Bitcoin News of the Day

  • A recent public records inquiry by El Mundo, a local Salvadoran outlet, found that zero passports had been issued as part of the ‘Adopting Bitcoin’ program, which was spearheaded by Salvadoran authorities to provide the so-called ‘freedom passports’ to Bitcoin investors willing to donate $1 million in BTC or USDT to the country. The program aimed to attract at least 1,000 investors to settle in El Salvador, with the goal of raising $1 billion in the process.

Global Trade & ~Econ

  • Last month’s Brics summit, hosted by Vladimir Putin, was a sign of the times. Originally a group of five countries – Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa – the meeting in Kazan welcomed four new members in Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran and the United Arab Emirates. At least another couple of dozen countries – including Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Indonesia – showed up as observers and are interested in joining the club.

~Politics_and_Law

  • Trump has made repeated false claims that Democrats are cheating in the election, and he’s twisted isolated problems with voting leading up to Election Day, all in an effort to prime his supporters to falsely believe the election is not legitimate if he loses.

~Stacker_Sports News

  • Getsy was hired in the offseason after spending two years as the Chicago Bears' offensive coordinator with mixed results. He was previously the quarterbacks coach and pass game coordinator for the Green Bay Packers, helping Aaron Rodgers to back-to-back NFL MVP awards in 2020 and 2021.

~Tech & ~Science

  • Type in "Is Kamala Harris a good Democratic candidate", and Google paints a rosy picture. Search results are constantly changing, but last week, the first link was a Pew Research Center poll showing that "Harris energises Democrats". Next is an Associated Press article titled "Majority of Democrats think Kamala Harris would make a good president", and the following links were similar. But if you've been hearing negative things about Harris, you might ask if she's a "bad" Democratic candidate instead. Fundamentally, that's an identical question, but Google's results are far more pessimistic.

~History with Mystery

  • Over America’s long history of presidential elections, campaigns have used a wide array of media and marketing gimmicks to sell their candidates to the public. From corny campaign jingles to candidate-themed merchandise, here are seven tactics that American presidential campaigns have used to get out their message.

~Entertainment World

  • In a phenomenal career that spanned more than 60 years, Jones produced Michael Jackson’s best-selling albums Off the Wall, Thriller and Bad; obtained the rights to the novel The Color Purple, cast a young Oprah Winfrey in the Steven Spielberg 1985 film adaptation and received three Oscar nominations for his work; helmed the historic recording sessions for the 1985 charity single “We Are the World,” the best-selling single of all time; and produced Lesley Gore’s 1963 chart-topping hit “It’s My Party.”
Thanks for reading 🙏
If Trump wins, will Kamala also dispute the results?
There are high chances that Dems will do the same. American politics is quite dramatic.
reply
Almost certainly: Hillary disputed her loss, Kerry disputed his loss, and Gore disputed his loss.
This is par for the course and they freaked out when Trump (a lifelong Democrat) acted like a Democrat.
reply
I'm of the view that Trump feels more honest when he speaks. At least he declared it long ago, at least 4 years ago, that he'll oppose a democratic win. The others are just silent serpents.

The presidential election is based on the electoral college. The popular vote is based on the idea of checks and balances but it doesn't count. The electoral college for each state behaves a little differently. This is how a representative constitutional republic works.
reply
Thanks. I know a bit of how electoral college works there. But I feel that India's way of electing a Prime Minister is a little more straight forward.
The electoral college is partial for some states can influence the elections more.

Are you cross posting this to nostr? You would spread the word about SN, develop your nostr following, and maybe get some SN referrals.

Someone @Undisciplined cross posted this that's how I found it.
reply
I'm glad it worked for someone.

I think the shared posts on NOSTR are better if we add a little summary.
I've tried cross posting from here and it never works. Meaning it doesn't work on my original post connected to NOSTR.
Sharing is good. I even try to share on Truth social. I have 2 followers so my audience is massive there. No Facebook or X.

I recall @Natalia made a post about how to set up nostr cross-posting properly. It might be in one of her Art of Using SN posts.
Before I followed her instructions, my cross-posting also wasn't working.

I'll check it out. I like her writing anyway.

Thanks.
I'm not doing it now but I'm gonna be in a few days. Because I don't use SN and Nostr on a PC so right now I can only do it mannually.

The power shift is happening because of so many reasons but not definitely because of a downfall of American Economy. The media is just emphasing this because of elections there.

Donald Trump has claimed that there has been election fraud and there has been. The problem is that there is no dispute because the language in rebuttal is that there is no WIDE SPREAD election fraud. Trump never said that there was "wide spread" election fraud. Listen or read what is being said. They, the Democrats, are not dismissing the fraud. They are saying it's not wide spread.
There is fraud.
CNN is a sock puppet.

Thanks for the insight. I agree.
I'm glad you like 'The Daily Zap'.

Good morning 😊 Personally, I was very excited about what was happening in El Salvador regarding the topic of bitcoin. Now I see that investors are still thinking about it 🤔 and analyzing whether El Salvador is really a country in which one can invest in the way they are proposing. Bukele's proposal is very ambitious and hopefully it will allow for good results in the future for that country that is doing very well thanks to its president!!
