As Elizabeth Nolan Brown writes for Reason, “What both the right and left attacks on the provision share is a willingness to use whatever excuses resonate—saving children, stopping bias, preventing terrorism, misogyny, and religious intolerance—to ensure more centralized control of online speech. They may couch these in partisan terms that play well with their respective bases, but their aim is essentially the same.” In other words, the government will use any excuse to suppress dissent and control the narrative.
We, here at SN knew this, didn’t we? Control the speech, control the minds. Soon there will only be Newspeak. DoublePlusUnGood!!!
This is a good illustration of why I don't spend much energy engaging with partisans. They don't actually mean or believe what they're saying. They're just grasping for rationalizations to support their tribe.
It never matters to them when you blow up one of their arguments, so what's the point of blowing it up?
reply
Yep, they will dodge and weave and never come up with a logical argument. The name calling and ad hominem attacks are ferocious because they cannot think, Tribal attachment is the be-all-end-all for them. It is a total waste of time even acknowledging they are even speaking.

States and governments have always wanted to control all information, both digital and physical. Once again, it is only in their interest that we all say yes to their projects or ideas and that no one jokes or has a contrary opinion in order to remain in power.

Ahhh….. jokes!!! Humor is the one thing that the state has no way of fighting. All of their guns and troopers cannot stand to ridicule. Their cronies cannot stand to sarcasm and humor once exposed. The state is totally vulnerable to this weapon.

It is certainly so, Friend @Rothbardian_fanatic
