Maybe I'm in the minority thinking it's a good idea. I recall you creating a de facto sports territory before territories existed. Sometimes the SN management needs a little shove. I hope real sub territories are not far off. I'm betting you disagree and think it's premature.
What's the main problem you see subterritories solving?

Good question. Most territories are pretty general. Let's look as music as an example. The territory owner only has so much time and energy to devote to the territory, and the subject is enormous and diverse. If the founder could rent or sell a sub for a particular genre, band, performer, instrument, etc, the person running the sub would have a focused interest. It would be easier for the territory to sustain itself because the financial burden is shared, and marketing would be more focused.

I don't need rent. Driving more traffic to the territory is a net benefit to me so I would even share the revenue a sub generated if someone was making a concerted effort to creating a good and growing sub territory.

Whether it's called rent or not, I think there would need to be some kind of financial split. There could even be sub sub territories. @BlokchainB gets a hockey sub, I rent the Islanders sub from him, etc.

I need Cricket and as sub subs Big bash, IPL, world T20, etc etc.

If you want to create a cricket sub that's cool but I haven't even reached profitability in the sports territory yet. It won't likely make a profit but you may want to buy it as an investment in case SN is huge in the future and then you have the cricket territory which would be very popular.
reply
I'll buy it as a sub. I know it'll be possible in future and I think it's better to keep posting Cricket in ~stcker_sports till then. Having a territory only for Cricket isn't gonna be profitable not until we have at least 1000 active cricket lovers.
Today, I've seen an interesting stat that most of the forever top posts haven't even been zapped by more 200 stackers.

I think in a formal sub situation sure but as a test I don't think there needs to be financial commitment from the sub.

I should have been more clear. I agree with you 100 percent for your idea on the post. I was talking about when subs are formalized. Sorry
