The funny thing though is that no currency from BRICS and group has increased against USD. INR has been falling, Yuan has been rather less falling. Ruble has been falling.

I saw it but didn't seek for the reasons thinking what might it be more than the currency reacting late to Trump's accession.

That's the fun. Almost 90% of their trades are settled in USD and the agenda of recent BRICS meetings held it unanimously that they need a different currency for BRICS but I doubt they'd ever have it.
