That we are ruled by incompetents, ignoramuses, fools, morons, imbeciles and scum, and that this scandalous and deplorable state of affairs has not improved but gotten worse over time is no accident. It is the predictable, logical consequence of accepting the original myth regarding the necessity of a State – of a monopolist of violence, a final and ultimate judge who, unlike everyone else, cannot be summoned by anyone to be put on trial for his actions – for the maintenance of peace.
In the absence of profit signals, political outcomes are pure noise. As such, those who thrive in politics must be pure facade.
Or something like that. It's not a rigorous thought, but sort of a half-baked connection.

I think that following the money will also show you where the “profits” are moving. I hesitate to call what the state does as “profit” because I determine it to be much closer to “robbery”. I think those who thrive in politics are morally deficient because they are not honest. The way Hoppe puts it is that the political means are not the economic means. Political means are derived from the state’s monopoly on violence. I think the lefties are on to something by saying, “Defund the police.” That would deprive them of at least one of their methods of coercion and therefore destruction of private property.

The interesting point raised in your discussion, is why politicians are such unimpressive seeming people. There's no obvious reason why the heads of a powerful organized crime operation would have to be dumb, so I think there's something else going on.

Yeah, they are just plain psychopathic or sociopathic. They have no conscience.
