Amusingly, there's a comics character named Freddie Freeman -- he used to be called Captain Marvel Jr, back in the golden age (and was Elvis Presley's favorite), but has been going by Shazam sometimes in recent years. So the constant use of the player's full name really made it impossible to forget him, even before he became a megastar.
