My memory lapses from time to time and I tend to forget things that are right in front of me. That has led to a lot of situations but the last one I remember I went to buy something in a grocery that's right in front of my house while I was coming back from somewhere so I was in my bike. I locked it outside, bought something, and absolutely erased any trace of existence of my bike from my mind for two days. I keep my bike right in front of my bed for I live in a very small apartment, so I had that chance to notice the elephant was not anymore in the room, yet for two days it stopped to exist. It could have been weeks, but thankfully I needed my bike for another reason so by muscular memory my hand tried to grasp something that wasn't there anymore and then and only then I was able to make synapsis again: there was a bike. Ok, good, first step! Well done champ... Now the second problem was that I had absolutely no record of where the bike could be. I spent the entire day lurking blindly through the unfathomable halls of my memory until the lost memory crossed me by sheer accident and I had the second synapsis: the grocery store! I was deeply agraciated by the fact it survived so long in the open unscathed, for this is not a safe zone.
I have made the habit of always being one step ahead of my own stupidity. Many times future me has thanked past me for taking pre-emptive measures.
