I think it's worth noting that the Euro Zone, Japan and the USA all back their respective currency with reserves of the other two.
I believe the yen is intentionally deflationary to allow allies to save. The US is designed to lend and the Euro is most commonly spent. Given the mad amounts of allied spending it makes sense that each is feeling it's respective blows
