Stacker News is something that made the transition from Twitter, Facebook and other mind numbing online activities futile. I used to write long rants on Facebook, Google+, Twitter and other places only to have people:
  1. Not respond
  2. Respond with a thumb up
  3. Argue with me and then get tired and leave.
  4. I would do number 3.
  5. No value at all as the Algo would hide me.
On NOSTR I'm not very successful because I'm not equally playing with others whereas here I'm paying and playing the same as even my worst detractor who, I must admit, is just as legitimate as me because he has entered into the same exact circumstance.
I still like NOSTR but it's so powerful and massive that it's in the 1998 phase of Linux. Here Stacker is exactly ahead of the game by using legacy and new.
Stacker News is way ahead of the game in part because it is Pay-to-Post. It filters out all the noise... and the signal to noise ratio goes up, way way up imo.
If a post isn't worth 100 sats (around 7 cents?) to post and share with others... if it isn't worth 7 cents to occupy some else's time and attention then it probably isn't worth posting.
It would be a great filter for nostr in my opinion.
