Here's what I understand. This is due to the GPL license and the holder being a US entity, The Linux Foundation. Legally they are required to do this.

That said, this is so bad IMO. Just another consequence of evil men using nations like pawns to enrich themselves. These men do not care for the Ukraine people or the Russian people. It's truly evil.
